1. Introduction
Garagio LLC ("Garagio," "we," "us," "our"), a Connecticut limited liability company, operates Garagio (the "Service"), a digital home for vehicle ownership. We help you document, preserve, and optionally share your cars. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Service.
Garagio is currently in Beta. We are a small team building intentionally, and our practices may evolve as the product develops. Material changes to this Policy will be communicated to users.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: email address, first and last name, username.
- Vehicle information: VIN, make, model, year, mileage, exterior and interior color, trim, transmission, body style, photos.
- Documents you upload to your Vault: window stickers, registrations, insurance documents, titles, service records, financing documents, warranties, and any other files you choose to store.
- Timeline entries (V1+ feature, not in Vbeta): descriptions, dates, mileage at time, costs, attached photos, linked documents.
- Profile settings: privacy preferences, sharing settings, display preferences.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: browser type, operating system, IP address (used for security and abuse prevention).
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, timestamps (used to improve the Service).
- Cookies and similar technologies: session cookies for authentication. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect biometric data.
- We do not track you across third-party websites.
- We do not collect location data beyond what you may choose to include in uploaded photos or documents.
3. How we use information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Verify ownership of vehicles by matching the name on your account to names on documents in your Vault (such as registration, insurance, or title).
- Authenticate you and prevent unauthorized access to your account.
- Communicate with you about your account, the Service, and product updates.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security threats, and technical issues.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell personal data tied to you.
We may share information in these limited circumstances:
- With service providers: companies that help us operate the Service (cloud hosting, email delivery, security monitoring). These providers are bound by contracts restricting their use of your data to providing services to us.
- For legal reasons:when required by law, court order, valid legal process, or to protect Garagio's legal rights, users, or the public.
- In a business transfer: if Garagio is acquired, merged, or transfers assets, your information may be part of that transaction. You will be notified.
- With your consent:if you make your Garage Passport public, the information you've designated as publicly visible will be accessible to anyone with the URL.
Aggregated and anonymized data
Garagio may create and share aggregated, anonymized insights derived from the Service (such as trends about dream cars, market patterns, popular models). Such aggregated data will not identify you personally and may be shared with, or sold to, dealers, manufacturers, or market research partners. This is part of Garagio's long-term business model.
5. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your account and most personal data is soft-deleted for 30 days, during which you can restore by signing back in.
- After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted from our active systems.
- Backups may retain your data for up to 90 additional days after permanent deletion before being purged.
- We may retain certain information longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.
6. Your rights and choices
You have the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you (available through your Account Settings).
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export your data (V1+ feature).
- Control what is publicly visible via per-field privacy settings on each car.
- Opt out of non-essential communications.

If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, California, or other jurisdictions with similar privacy laws (such as GDPR or CCPA), additional rights may apply. We will honor applicable legal rights.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- TLS encryption in transit.
- Encryption at rest for sensitive data including VINs, names, and Vault document contents.
- Passwordless magic link authentication (no passwords stored).
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data.
- Regular security review.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you promptly as required by applicable law.
8. Children's privacy
Garagio is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Garagio is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
10. Third-party services
The Service may include links to or integrations with third-party services (such as VIN decoder APIs from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Those services have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for their content or actions.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice in the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
